Personality:

"I love Aya – she’s strong, driven and ready to take on the world."
Yvonne Strahovski

Aya Brea is a professional — a good cop and a good agent with good morals who does her work diligently even though she has been labeled "rookie" several times in both occupations of her life Being an officer in New York, she serves and protects — it enhances her protective quality. Persistent for the truth, especially when it concerns her life and what just happened to it that fateful night at the opera. During her career as a law enforcer, she's always had a mentor, a boss; she has played the follower, listening to orders — however, she's played the leader role herself. She only takes over the role when she either knows better, or there's no one left to turn to.

She has a rather logical and analytical thinking process, and combined with her investigative skills and knack for solving puzzles, Aya is a keen, observant detective, one that tends to be more street smart over book smart — that is not to say that she is stupid, because she is actually a rather quick learner. She was able to solve several puzzles and riddles with clues she finds — like how she was able to solve the temple puzzle within the Neo Ark. With her thought process, she is also a quick thought strategist, using the environment and the items she picks up to her advantage ( pepper sprays, flash lights, flares ) — that is how she destroyed one of the ANMC Monsters from the dumpster heap permanently by trapping it within a trash compactor, as well as dealing with No. 9 by shooting the electric wires to shock him.

She is inquisitive, observant, and a bit thoughtful, having thoughts of the surroundings, clues, and the people she encounters; she takes what she believes to be useful items she finds with her, like the shotgun in the armory of the shelter, and finding an entrance within the sewers from the shelter to lead back straight to Dryfield; she always has thoughts while investigating, both personal and professional. "This can't have come from the gun" to "I have to give this to her, or she'll die!"

Even with her logical way of thinking, she has her instincts — both humane and mitochondria-based. It is her gut feeling that pointed out how Eve is innocent even though she is just so powerful to be able to control the monsters, and how she thought that Flint, Gary Douglas' dog, would like the teddy bear she picked up from No. 9's wrecked motorbike.

Aya Brea is loyal, devoted, and a good friend. Her trust is the kind to be earned, through both the individual's actions and Aya's instincts. That is what made Aya doubt Kyle's sudden betrayal when he appeared with No. 9 and a kidnapped Eve — of course, when he shot the ANMC, he proved himself to the FBI Agent and her instincts.

Strong-willed and determined heroine, she even goes by a saying that Kyle told her once — "Never give up!" and she didn't, she continued to rescue Eve and save the world from another Ultimate Being, from another world destruction from neo-mitochondria.

After the death of her mother and sister, Aya becomes slightly pessimistic, tending to blame herself when others are put in danger because of her actions ( like going to the shelter, and then Pierce followed, only to be trapped inside the Golem cryostatis chambers for a while — she blamed herself ). She also dropped down some despair when Eve was kidnapped. That becomes a reason for her to toughen up years later, to be strong and to become the woman she is at present — even though she tends to self-criticize herself at times.

Sometimes, however, her emotions get the best of her — she shows a moment of weakness, pure sadness, and is a bit of a cynic when No. 9 kidnapped Eve; she dropped down on her knees in despair, but recovers quickly enough to continue moving forward. She apologizes when she believes she's at fault, like when Pierce gets in trouble in the Shelter. "Had it not been for me, you wouldn't be in trouble" ideology. Once a depressing state is done and over with, she pushes it aside with determination and focus on her goal for the day.

Aya shows to be a bit more of an introvert than an extrovert. She does not go out for glamorous socialization, because she would rather spend her time relaxing with herself — that does not mean she keeps herself indoors at all times, but it means that she would rather keep to herself, like with her thoughts or with work ( the partner, of course, is someone she knows she can talk to and trust, like in the first and second game ). She does not have difficulty in making friends, though — she has several.

Aya, therefore, is a passive individual usually. She does take action, usually when it comes to her job or when it comes too people she has grown to care about, like Eve, and Kyle; she takes action when she is angry, she takes a leader's position at times, like telling Kyle to go back to B2 when he had trouble entering the Neo Ark.

Aya allows herself some relaxation, like taking a hot shower in the hotel she investigated in, and relaxing her stance when she stays in her spot for too long. Her taste in fashion is flavourful, owning a beautiful black dress and high heels — though she prefers casual outfits like a pair of blue jeans, a white tee, and a black leather jacket, especially when it comes to work.

She can be rather sarcastic — the dry kind, witty thoughts and remarks, like asking if she had to fight any giant cactus creatures when she was told to head out to the Mojave Desert to investigate Dryfied. That is her type of humor, she doesn't crack hideous jokes like a comedian nor set up pranks on certain people for a laugh. She does not take being played a fool lightly, however, but she does not fight back with a gun pointed to the other's head. Instead, she bites back with her words like when she called Kyle a smart ass for trying to play the hero when his body couldn't handle the Neo Ark environment. Idiot...! She thinks.

Aya Brea has a sisterly/motherly side. After she saved Pierce, he went down hours later to the Shelter. She scolds him because he is supposed to rest, not work — of course, that is just Aya caring about people whim she considers friends. She refuses to see them hurt, and will fight anyone and anything that decides otherwise. That is why she prioritises them first before her when it comes to life and death situations, that is why she eliminated monsters in her way so she will be able to bring ice as it is to her injured friend — and why she hugs Eve, who screamed and cried, when she meets her for the first time to sooth her because she believed her to be pure. They matter.

She is a woman that can fall in love, which is why she almost gets married to Kyle in the third game. It can be assumed that she had been devoted only to him because there is no evidence of other lovers within the three games she's been in unless the manga becomes official canon, where she has another love interest named Gary Davis, but it's has differences when comparison to the first game; Aya comes from straight game canon and official interviews with Word of God confirmations from them. Therefore, until the directors say so, it is invalid.

Even after discovering her abilities, the truth, and the fact that she had been cloned, she thinks of herself as human — or, at least, in her heart and her beliefs. She may have new powers that are rather inhuman, and she believed herself to be something else entirely for a moment, but just as she told Eve in the first game when she was asked whys he sides with humanity — "Well, why not? I'm a human."

Though, it is because of the events of the first game that she believes to be the only one in the world with such genetics without transforming into a mindless being. All she wants is a normal life — she never wanted to live forever, even though the rest of the world thinks otherwise.

With that said, Aya is brave; she is a self-sacrificing person — she will endure the emotional, mental, and physical pain to save the world as many times as needed; she is willing to give away her long life to protect humanity.

Abilities/Additional Notes:

Aya was a police officer, and now she is an FBI Agent. She has had proper police training, being able to use the tonfa baton rather well against her enemies of different kinds, shapes and sizes.

She is quick on her feet as well, and athletic enough to jump down form crates with no harm done and dodge roll efficiently, quickly, and side stepping just in time to dodge a monster's attack. She knows when to hide when she needs to reload, she knows when to shoot while pulling the trigger — Aya is a healthy girl with good reflexes.

She is good with a gun. Not just with a handgun, but she knows how to handle a rifle, a shotgun, a grenade launcher, a sniper rifle, a gunblade — it can be assumed that, ecspecially with professional training from the NYPD and the FBI, she knows how to use different kinds of weapons without much trouble. Unfortunately, she had not been trained how to diffuse a bomb.

When Aya was young, she, her mother and her twin sister, Maya, got into a car crash. That resulted into her mother and sister's death, and sending the children to the hospital. Aya was born with an eye defect, and so a year after the crash she needed a cornea transplant. Maya's organs were preserved, and that is where she inherited the advanced mitochondria that resided within Maya. Because of that, Aya began to develop powers. During the events of the first game, she was able to transform. However, by the second game, her powers have simmered down after the death of the second Eve (Melissa Pierce).

» EARTH
☆ Antibody ( lvl 3 ) | Advanced Antibody. Draws on the earth's magnetic field, forming a total protective sheath against physical blows around the host.
☆ Energyshot ( lvl 3 ) | Advanced Energyshot. Increases velocity and sends a cancerous package of mitochondria with every round.
☆ Energyball ( REVIVE | lvl 1 ) | Uses mitochondria to gather thermal energy and form a magnetic field that supports a superconducting orb for defense and attack.

» FIRE
☆ Pyrokinesis ( lvl 3 ) | Advanced Pyrokinesis. Best accuracy. Fires multiple bursts, causing target sublimation.
☆ Combustion ( lvl 3 ) | Advanced Combustion. best power ad range of effect. Combusts body fat, melting the target like a candle.
☆ Inferno ( lvl 3 ) | Advanced Inferno. Uses radioactive isotopes to set off nuclear fission. The resulting inferno destroys the target at a molecular level.

» WIND
☆ Necrosis ( lvl 1 ) | Mitochondria focus in the hands and release an electrical charge, necrotizing target's epidermis.
☆ Plasma ( lvl 3 ) | Advanced Plasma. Activates mitochondria, creating a discharge that detonates molecules. Flattens all targets in the surrounding area.
☆ Apobiosis ( REVIVE | lvl 1 ) | Activates mitochondria to make an electrical pulse. Paralyzes target by accelerating natural programmed cell death.

» WATER
☆ Metabolism ( lvl 1 ) | Advanced Metabolism. Heightens metabolic rate to lightning speed. Instantly detects, neutralizes, and eliminates toxins.
☆ Healing ( lvl 3 ) | Advanced Healing. Directly converts mitochondria in the host to energy, promoting rapid healing.
☆ Lifedrain ( REVIVE | lvl 1 ) | Indirectly controls mitochondria in adjacent organisms, using them to generate an electrical current to boost healing.

Her mitochondria can "communicate" with others, but most especially with others that have higher leveled ones, like Melissa. She is also able to sense the levels of mitochondria within a person, but usually judges it very much like — "There's so much mitochondria" or "The mitochondria is going crazy" kind of sense. It is also because of the mitochondria that she has ceased to age; by the time she is 37, she still looks like her 27-year old self. Because of this, it is unlikely that Aya is able to get sick nor gain permanent scars and injuries.

She also seems to be able to understand her mitochondria in terms of what it wants. Aya deduces that the mitochondria gives her longevity because it wants a young, healthy host to stay in, one that will be at its prime so they can exist.

It is also because of the advanced mitochondria that Aya also has the potential to Overdive, which means her consciousness leaves her body and takes over another person's body. The other person's consciousness is placed in, in a way, stasis until she leaves that body — they do not show signs of being troubled after she takes over and leaves the body. She is also able to attack other people's bodies from within with Overdrive. However, to overdive, Eve must be around ( and Eve must be able to do it as well ).

Aya Brea, former NYPD officer, and now FBI Agent and, once more, an officer — this time for another world entirely.

It is her day off from work, and so she decides to go for a walk because she needs to think — two months in the new world, and, sometimes, the whole still baffles and worries her. Of course, she does not allow people to know her true feelings and thoughts about it. Instead, she tells them she's fine whenever a familiar face asks.

She isn't really fine.

It is still a strange experience — "You entered through dreams, or through death!" people have explained to her. Every time she recalls her last memory, she does not remember losing her life to the wild ANMC that and escapes its pen and travels around the area to feed and kill flesh and bone. Death is something she does not allow herself to reach because there's still so much to do.

Aya knows she still has to finish the mystery of the Neo Ark, she still has to meet up with Pierce, with Kyle — and go home.

The experience she gains in this brave new world, however, has not been terribly toxic. In fact, it was... pleasant, yes, she thinks. The people have been helpful enough to provide information, the people have been kind enough to use the bad things into good things — they still celebrate holidays and birthdays happily, they still set up shows and pagents, and it makes them happy.

"The good things in life —"

Before she could finish her sentence, rain pours down so hard and so suddenly that her train of thoughts move from her situation to Wet Dog.

A heavy sigh, she looks around to search for shelter — and she finds a bus stop with a hood.

That'll be fine, she thinks.

The good things in life are what make it special.
